Not working since day one. No LG resolution yet.

This product has not worked sin the day it was installed. I have talked with 7 different people at LG on 4 phone calls. First I was told it was unrepairable and I lived too far away to exchange it they sell them 15 miles north of me. Then they would refund the price that was paid. Then they made a mistake and this is a 12000 BTU AC so they need to service it. I was on hold for 20 minutes and was told because they were calling for the day they did not have time to speak with me. The supervisor was gong to call back the next day. No call back. 3 weeks no A/C and the temps in the house are in the high 80s. Come on LG replace it. It didnt work from day one.

Once again got a new window AC. Left it off for 24 hours and immediately was making noises similar to those they make when theyre breaking down. Theyre shelving these ac for years. Bought my last one in 2023 and its a 2016 model. Plus the manufactures warranty is such a joke. Begging over the phone two appointments and couldnt fix the last one so dealing with this with the new one has absolutely frustrated me. Done w LG. LG tech even said LG is crap if that says anything.

I expected a much more thoughtful product from LG

Plus side - It cools occasionally. LW1216ER Negatives - Its just a horribly executed product. Rated at 550 sq fr but doesnt cool a 450 sq ft room effectively when the temp goes above about 85. Very heavy at 82lbs requires two people and no way to carry easily or protect coils while moving. Side curtain panels are incredible cheap and break easily. Remote doesnt have a backlight so cant use from bed at night. All lights on front panel turn off so you cant adjust easily at night and the lights are not very bright so you cant see during the day. Foam padding tears away. Foam padding degrades in a year or two. No appreciable difference in fan settings 1 2 3. All are pretty much are low and settings 2 and 3 should be stronger. Energy Saver mode turns the unit off and back on every 1-3 minutes sometimes more frequently. The constant on off on off on off on off on off on off on off on off on off is worse than just leaving it in cool mode. The Dry mode doesnt do anything. Uses more electricity than it claims. Louder than it claims. Air deflectors have limited adjustments and cant get air where its needed. Attaching the front grill is always a huge hassle as the poor design results in the power cord control panel cable vent lever and attachment tabs all getting in the way at different times. Front grille attachment tabs are cheap plastic and snap off easily. Theres always nasty smelly rusty water in the base pan. The base pan rusts has chipping paint and collects dirt - removing end of season is a nightmare. The dirt rust paint that collects in the base pan and sits there creates a mold issue every season. Manual recommends cleaning condenser coils in back but doesnt say how to do that.

Noisy on an intermittent basis.

I purchased this unit in 2018 because of a high rating in a magazine verified with Consumer Reports. Being in a studio apt the fact that it was called quiet was a major plus. Ive been disappointed in that regard. When the compressor first comes on theres some racket which I understand is normal. Thereafter sometimes the compressor coming on is silent and I only hear a change in tone of the hum. This is ideal. But on bad days there is racket every time the compressor comes back on which is intolerable. I live in San Francisco and only use it a few times a year so far but global warming is coming. While it was under warranty a service man came but it was not noisy that day. The last time I used it this year it was pretty quiet. But even though its now out of warranty if it continues being noisy I will contact LG again. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason why it is noisy on some days and not on others. Its been a pain. Perhaps LG will see this review.

Its a full 12000 BTU and pushes very cold air. I took the temp when on full blast and its in the 30sF Three speed fan cools a very large area quickly. All of that and its remarkably quiet. We can watch TV right next to it could not do that with the unit it replaced.

Defective Unit Blower unit doesnt work well

I like the look.The blower doesnt do a good job at allIts on the highest F-setting you can barely feel the air coming out of the unit. I literally have a box fan in front of the blowing vents so the air gets pushed further out. Maybe my A/C is a faulty unit but to go through the trouble of taking everything apart re-packaging then shipping it back just isnt worth the time. This unit obviously is defective.How it can have a 5star rating my A/C doesnt perform is a mystery.

I put the unit in my living room area 800 sq ft. and you can feel that air blowing 7 feet away on the Couch. it is remarkably cool in this area that includes my kitchen and dining room. LG once again proved to be the choice for me. After carefully researching and comparing brands and models and their respective capabilities I settled on this LG 12K-BTU window unit in hopes that it would adequately cool a 900 sq. ft. space. Mid-July with mid-90s temps certainly provided the test. Although this unit is rated to cool less square footage I am pleasantly surprised that it has quietly provided very comfortable air-conditioning for my living space while set to 70-72 degrees medium fan for the remainder of the summer

Great Window Dehumidifier

I bought this for my pole building which is insulated. It was so humid in there this summer and I worried about mold. I use the unit as a window dehumidifier so heat isnt introduced where I work out and do projects. It works great and it is nice and cool besides drier.

This new LG ac has the same btu rating as the old but is much quieter I love the new features like just setting the air temp by degree and having a dehumidifier option. Used it for 2 months now and seems to work great

Product does not actually cool

I turned on the AC and it kept alternating between cold air and regular air so the room never actually cools down. I called a LG technician who said this type of model was built with an internal thermostat that keeps resetting every few minutes. Had I known about this I would not have bought this appliance.

Not Cold Enough

Just got my new LG air conditioner... Its been unusually HOT but for some reason a smaller air conditioner in another part of the home is cooling a larger area doing so easily. Im just VERY disappointed I expect more from LG

My new air conditioner does exactly what I bought it to do It cools my bedroom perfectly. Nothing fancy about it. I turn it on and it blows cold air. Best investment I have made in a long time. I recommend if you need a little extra to keep cool on these summer days.

NO MATTER WHAT TEMPERATURE THE ROOM IS 75 OR 95 THIS AIR CONDITIONER NEVER COOLS BELOW 65.6. I SET THE TEMPERATURE FOR 60 BUT IT NEVER COOLS TO 60. NEVER. IT IS ADVERTISED TO COOL TO 60 DEGREES AND IT NEVER DOES. I HAVE CONTACTED LG MULTIPLE TIMES AND NO HELP.

Spent last week up at the cabin and it was very warm and humid. This unit handled keeping the cabin between 69 and 70 degrees throughout the whole cabin. Last year we used 2 air conditioners in the cabin and we were lucky if it got down to the mid 70s. We were very happy with this unit.

Just what we wanted

We bought this 12000 BTU unit as an upgrade to an older 10000 BTU unit from another brand. We have an open floor plan for much of the house but dont want to go the expensive route of getting central air installed since were in Upstate NY where we only need AC 2 to 3 months each year. The old unit was almost enough to cool the the large rooms that are open but wouldnt do the job in energy saver mode. We bought this during the Memorial Day Sale at Lowes. Within a week we had a couple days in the 90s so I waisted no time putting it together and installing it. When I turned it on the first thing I noticed was that it is quiet. Probably half the noise volume of the old one. Weve run it a lot since then set to 73 and on energy saver mode. It keeps our large 3 room open area dining room kitchen and living room at 73 degrees without running constantly and without making noticeable noise. Im very pleased with it purchase and have heard good things about LG appliances for years.... This unit lives up to that great LG reputation. I would recommend this to anyone looking to cool a large area
